I have a feeling that if Auburn was already reaching out to JJ, formally or informally... Someone on this forum would have heard it from somewhere other than a ULL fan on the Sun Belt forum.

If anyone (fan or employee or media) knew or heard anything other than that original article that mentioned JJ when the Auburn job first opened up, then they haven't told me about it.

Charles Barkley was in town today.....but only to take advantage of the $2.49 buffet special at Pizza Inn.

Luriking on some Auburn messageboards, Jones hasn't been mentioned a whole lot. I am hoping that means he's not a serious canddate, and is just getting a once over because Barkley knows him or something.

Remember the heat Auburn took for passing over a black FB coach (Turner Gill) for a white one (Gene Chizik)?

Barkley really gave them crap over that. So, it wouldn't surprise me if they hired a black BB coach. And JJ is a good (and black) BB coach.

I think the only influence that Barkley has is that Auburn knows he will raise hell if they do not hire a black coach. Is he near bankrupt with all of his gambling issues ? I really doubt he donates much ,if any , to the school.

I love JJ , but I really think their alums & fans would not be happy with him being named the new head coach. Auburn needs a splash hire as they enter into their new basketball arena. Tubby Smith or Chuck Person are 2 the school will pursue very,very hard


Trust me guys , JJ will be around for at least another year
