This is exactly the point. I wish more people would share this perspective.

Something pretty damn special is happening right now. It's been happening for years. It doesn't have to blow away everything that's ever come before in order to be special.

As for what happens if we lose JJ... I'd like to see a lot of guys like Gillespie considered (like Quin Snyder or even Avery Johnson, who has a controlling approach that would work much better for college than pro basketball). But ultimately, I think that the programs that tend to build long, consistent legacies across multiple HCs without significant dropoffs along the way are those that are able to promote from within.

If it came down to hiring a guy like Gillespie vs. promoting Foy/Leonard (or even Forrest)... I don't think we'd be able to sell it to the fans if we passed on the big name with the home run potential.

But consistency is worth a lot. And if I recall correctly, Foy and/or Leonard have JC championships on their resumes, so it isn't like they can't recruit or strategize.

This is all discussion for another time, of course.

Foy is the one with Juco national championship on his resume. Here's what I have to say about the folks like my friend FFR. He cares. He wants us to win. He is not the problem. None of you guys are the problem. The problems are the 90+% of our alums who leave NT and never look back. That's the problem....the apathetic. The passionate.....those I can deal with....even if they're guys who I occasionally disagree with.

Oh, I love Rick and no matter how batshit crazy he may get over this whole basketball situation, I still want him to consider me his friend.

Even when I'm trying to reason with him, either in person, on the phone, or on GMG... I try to communicate in a way that lets him know I still like and respect him.

Oh, and thanks for letting me know it was Foy. I'm sick of looking through media guide info.

Well said SUMG. This team, especially with the roll we're on, should be drawing way more than it has this season. I hope like hell we have a great crowd on Thursday....that's one of the biggest games in the SuperPit the last 3 years or so.

I have not glanced at gmg.com in years. I have no desire to do so.

I like FFR as well, but reading this thread it sounds like the same arguments I had with him in the past about basketball.

That was not why I quit going there though. I just could not find anything valuable, find anything worth my time, or even find posts that did not make me dumber. And then attempting to reason with people on there is just an endless source of frustration.

I haven't posted much on here, but I read it a lot, and I loved this thread. I doubt anyone over there is eating crow right now after this amazing month of February (even though it sounds like they should be), but I know what you guys are up against.
