Mansa El named women's team MVP????

I really don't get it. Amber Jackson is the team's best player....by far. She is an Academic All American, so she obviously wasn't shunning her responsibilities in the class room.
So what the hell could she have done to be this much in Shanice Stephens' doghouse?

I heard (unconfirmed, btw).....that she smarted off at practice.

Since we haven't heard of Amber being in any police blotter....it doesn't appear that she has done anything illegal.

Anyway, there may be something that explains it all. But, it sure seems that the punishment doesn't fit.

(Please note, I like Mansa El, a lot. She's a very promising player. But no way was she the team MVP.

She musta smarted off everyday and called Shanice's kids "monsters" to deserve this kinda punishment.

I totally agree, it's a joke.

I don't know the whole story obviously, but that is unfortunate.

I've got no problem with this at all. Whatever Amber's transgressions were, they merited the suspension. If they didn't we'd have heard of her, her teammates, or others close to the situation complaining about the severity of the punishment. I'd say the fact we've heard nothing points to two things, Coach Stephens runs an extremely tight ship and the suspension was probably deserved.

Even if the suspension were deserved(and maybe it is no one knows WHAT happened), the season is over. The banquet was about honoring the team's season, and she was on it until the last 2 games of the year. She was without a doubt the best player. So either welcome her back for the Banquet(I mean the suspension is over, season over), or just don't give out the MVP award - because everyone knows it's a joke if Amber doesn't win it.

According to wardly on the other board.....there was no mention of Amber at all...during the banquet, or in the season highlight video.

That's pathetic. She had 6-7 double-doubles in a row (this season), as I recall.

She also became the all-time leading rebounder for NT. So to just act as if she no longer exists...is ridiculous.

Or as wardly so accurately stated, "from the outside looking in , her lack of recognition from our coaching staff seemed petty and spiteful and showed no class."
