Pretty impressive that Tony Mitchell was the Player of the Year in DFW while Brandon Peters was POY in Greater Houston. I've advocated for years that if UNT couldn't land some of the better HS kids, that we patiently wait for the better D1 transfers in the spring. Our goal should continue to be to close the talent gap with upper echelon programs with a roster of transfers; the highly ranked high school kids will quickly begin to look at us differently. Hopefully, JJ (or whoever the coach maybe)will not be so quick to jump on the Ben Knox and Cam Spencer's so early. As we are seeing,(and maybe not)these signings/committments are biting us in the butt.

We could quickly become the Gonzaga/Butler or even Western Kentucky of the Southwest

By the way, I'm in favor of not renewing a scholarship in favor of Bell's Marshall Henderson. With the extra year, he would be more attractive than the highly speculated Chris Babb. I would be more pleased if we could get his teammate, Shawn Glover (Cedar Hill HS)out of Utah instead.

Spring Christmas starts up this week. Hopefully we can land a potential 1st Team All-Conference selection.

McGhee and Edwards have already agreed to jump in the boat, and we've got one spot left. It'll be interesting to see who we land with it.

I'd be very excited about any of the transfers out there who are trying to come back closer to home.

Dwight McCombs cut his list to Arizona State, Auburn, UAB, and Mississippi, so we're out on him.

Donald Williams was updated to show an offer from us. If we can't land any of the 3 notable transfers, I'd be pretty happy to get a guy that was good enough to go on scholarship at Kentucky that still has 3 years of eligibility left. Not the perfect fit for our system, but definitely a talent.

And I still haven't given up on Brandon Peters. NT03 pointed out that WKU is currently overcommited, and the extra commit is another SG who just verbaled last week.

I'm very excited to see whether we ink someone on Wednesday or not. If we do, my hope is for Peters, with Williams as a great consolation prize. If not... I think that means JJ feels confident he can bring in one of the big transfers, and I'll be very happy about that, too.

Williams has been listed on Rivals for a few days now. (originally he was just on Scout. Anyway, on Rivals it just lists us and Coastal Carolina as offers. But there's an article on there (insider access which I don't have) which seems to state that someone at LSU thinks they ought to go after Williams:
