I got involved and hate myself for it. GreenP1 has challenged me that I can't walk away, but the idea is getting easier by the day. My problem over here is that everyone is pretty measured and smart about things, so I don't feel the need to chime in (unless you want 300 "yeah, what he said's".

Well, over here when we disagree over where we're headed - or if the season is a "failure" - everyone is at least sane about things. I would say in general SUMG and GrandGreen are a bit more disappointed than us late 20/early 30's guys are about where we are right now. But that makes sense because they date back to at least Blakely's(arguably our best coach ever, even if his most successful yrs weren't with "his" guys) run in the 70's, so they know how good things can be. Grand even reference Spika's era in one of his posts, not sure if he goes back that far or not?

Of course Buford also dates back awhile, so maybe my theory in bunk.

To me there is no bigger waste of time in sports.....than trying to compare different eras. There are different standards to go by.....and what not. Just for example, the NCAA tournament only took 32 teams during the early Blakely years---then it was bumped up to 48.

But on the other hand.....NCAA standards for staying academically eligibile are much tougher now. Much tougher.

So I salute all of our good eras....and right now we are in one.


My dream though is that if JJ gets hired away that we'd bring in Billy Gillespie. If he was at our game the other day....I'm wondering if he was looking at UALR as a place to resume his career. Man would that be another great coach in the league.
